Helios Brewing Pouring into Yeerongpilly

Boutique craft beer makers Helios Brewing Company has snapped up a warehouse/office facility at Yeerongpilly in Brisbane’s south-west with plans to build a sustainable craft brewery on the site.

Helios has purchased the facility at 15 Palomar Road, Yeerongpilly, and an adjoining 475 sqm block at 20 Pulle Street, Yeerongpilly, for $1.15 million through Ray White Commercial Queensland’s Paul Anderson and Ray White Industrial Milton’s Stephen Ferguson on behalf of a local developer.

Helios Brewing’s Scott Shomer said the company, named for the Greek Sun God, is seeking development approval to build as green and sustainable a craft brewery as possible.

“Normally breweries are very water and energy intensive, Helios will use solar power, battery storage, solar-thermal to heat the kettle, and innovative strategies for ‘recycling heat’ and saving water,” Mr Shomer said.

“The business will lower carbon miles, reduce its footprint, and support the community by using malt made in town, local print shops for merchandise and giving spent grain to local farmers instead of adding it to a landfill.  On top of that, we are going to brew some awesome craft beer.”

Paul Anderson said the property offers a brand new 300 sqm tilt panel warehouse/office facility on a land area of 1055 sqm.

“Yeerongpilly is an exciting precinct, only 8km from the Brisbane CBD and is flanked by suburbs with high income demographics,” he said.

Stephen Ferguson said: “This facility is ideal for Helios with a column free warehouse and a large mezzanine deck adjoining the office space.”
